CBSE said it reserves the right to conduct inspections at any time to verify compliance

Noida: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has restored the affiliation of Uttarakhand Public School in Sector 56, months after withdrawing it over violations of affiliation bylaws.

The board, however, issued a warning to the school management. It said random checks would be conducted to ascertain if they were adhering to rules.

The move has brought relief to 1,100 students already enrolled in the school.

The school’s affiliation up to the senior secondary level had been revoked on Feb 18 following court intervention and an official probe into complaints of harassment and exploitation of female teachers. Some of the allegations were substantiated during the inquiry, prompting CBSE to withdraw recognition and triggering uncertainty for students ahead of the academic session. The decision also led to protests by parents who demanded that students’ academic interests not be affected.

After prolonged discussions with CBSE authorities and submissions made by the school management, the board reconsidered its earlier order. In a fresh directive issued with the approval of the CBSE chairman, the board set aside the Fe 18 order and restored the school’s affiliation with immediate effect.

“The CBSE has reconsidered the decision and now students can continue to study at the school,” said S Arun Dharini, CBSE regional coordinator.

Earlier, the board had allowed students of Classes 10 and 12 to complete the 2025-26 academic session on the same campus to avoid disruption but directed that students of Classes 9 and 11 be shifted to nearby CBSE-affiliated schools by March 31. The school was barred from admitting new students or promoting existing ones to Classes 9 and 11.

In the recent order, CBSE stated that teachers aggrieved over service-related matters or any action taken by the school management may approach concerned state authorities or other appropriate forums for redressal of grievances. The board also warned the management to strictly adhere to the provisions of the affiliation bylaws and follow all instructions issued from time to time.

“The school management will always wish for the betterment of the students. We had earlier written a petition to CBSE for reconsideration, and the board has wisely taken its decision. The school has always obliged by the board’s rules and will do so in future,” said Mohini Negi, principal of the school.

CBSE said it reserves the right to conduct inspections at any time to verify compliance. The board added that it may initiate action again if complaints regarding violations of recognition conditions or other provisions of the affiliation bylaws are received in future. Parents welcomed the decision, saying it would prevent disruption in studies and ensure continuity in academic activities while the school operates under closer scrutiny from CBSE authorities.
