Khaitan & Co has guided Reliance Industries in its strategic partnership with Meta Platforms, to develop an AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Under this partnership, Reliance Industries will develop a built-to-suit 168 MW hyperscale data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which Meta will lease to support its Artificial Intelligence and computing requirements. This is the first built-to-suit data centre capacity in India for Meta.

Reliance Industries will develop a data center, with 168 MW capacity, within two years, with an option to scale.

“This partnership is aligned with the Government of India’s priorities which designate data centres as strategic national infrastructure and introduces a long-term policy framework to attract global AI infrastructure investment into India,” said Reliance Industries in an exchange filing.

Khaitan’s core team included partner Atman Desai, senior associate Hetashri Khajanchi and associate Vivan Jhaveri, with assistance from partners Mayank Jain, Divya Chaturvedi and Mudit Shah and counsel Saransh Shaw.
