Rajkot: A dispute over land in a village of Lodhika taluka allegedly ended in murder, with police arresting two relatives accused of fatally assaulting a 34-year-old man. Investigators say the accused had initially taken the victim to hospital. Evidence later pointed to their involvement.Bharat Dangar, 34, was allegedly murdered at Rawki village on Sunday after a dispute over land, police said.The victim’s sister, Rekha Bagda, 36, lodged a complaint at Lodhika police station against Vijay alias Jigo Dangar (26) and Katti Bagda (33) for murder. Police have arrested both accused.Rekha stated that she got a call from her brother Dharmesh on Sunday morning telling her Bharat had been admitted to Rajkot Civil Hospital in a critical condition.When the family arrived at the hospital, Vijay and Katti were there. They told the family that Bharat had been found unconscious in Rawki and was first taken to a local hospital before being referred to Rajkot Civil Hospital. Doctors later declared Bharat dead.Police said both accused left the hospital without informing the family on learning of the death.During the investigation, family members told police that Vijay and Katti had visited Bharat’s house on the night before the incident. They further said the two had assaulted him with a stick around 9am on Sunday.Investigating officer Indrajit Singh Sarvaiya told TOI that the incident stemmed from an argument over vacating a piece of land.“There was an argument between the deceased and the two accused regarding vacating the land. Vijay and Katti beat Bharat with a stick, and he died during treatment,” Sarvaiya said.Police seized the stick used in the assault, a mobile phone and other evidence linked to the case. Investigators have also recorded statements from eyewitnesses.
