New Delhi: Diagnostic services provider Redcliffe Labs announced the launch of an artificial intelligence-powered facial scan tool that enables a 30-second, non-contact wellness screening using a smartphone or camera-enabled device.

The company said the initiative, launched under its #FaceItToday campaign, aims to support preventive health awareness at a time when over 500 million people in India are living with, or are at risk of, chronic lifestyle-related conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.

According to Redcliffe Labs, the new tool—called Face Scan—uses advanced technologies including remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) and remote ballistocardiography (rBCG) to extract physiological signals from a short facial video.

The technology detects subtle colour changes in the skin caused by blood flow to estimate parameters such as heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate and blood pressure, without any physical contact. The addition of rBCG, which tracks micro-movements of the head, helps improve accuracy in low-light conditions and across diverse skin tones, the company said.

Face Scan provides real-time insights related to heart rate, blood pressure and stress indicators, and is positioned as an early-warning wellness screening tool rather than a medical device or diagnostic solution, Redcliffe Labs clarified.

The company added that repeated use of the tool can help users track health trends over time and guide them towards appropriate diagnostic tests or clinical consultations when required.

“Everybody has the right to have an easy way to keep track of their well-being,” said Aditya Kandoi, CEO, Redcliffe Labs. “This is more than technology; it is 30 seconds of peace of mind. By making preventive analytics readily available, we are empowering people to take early, informed steps towards healthier lives.”

Redcliffe Labs said the launch aligns with its broader focus on simplifying preventive healthcare and making health monitoring more accessible across India.
