The BJP is gearing up for a massive mid-March rally, which is likely to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the heart of Kolkata as part of its campaign strategy in poll-bound West Bengal.
According to sources, March 15 being tentatively considered for the event while the venue will be the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata’s Maidan.
Party insiders said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend and address the rally. The final date, however, is yet to be officially confirmed.
To ensure maximum mobilisation, the BJP is planning to launch ‘rath yatras’ from multiple organisational zones across South Bengal, which will then converge at the Brigade rally. The party is expected to roll out the ‘rath yatra’ programme immediately after ‘Doljatra’.
Senior BJP leaders met in Kolkata on Saturday (February 14) to chalk out detailed election strategies. Sources said several key campaign plans were discussed during the meeting.
The party is also working on its election manifesto and intends to incorporate public opinion into the document. Multiple rounds of consultations are underway to ensure that the manifesto reflects people-centric priorities. When it comes to candidate selection, the BJP is seeking feedback from local leadership before finalising names.
The campaign strategy this time is focused on a micro-level approach, with the party releasing constituency-wise “chargesheets” that target specific local issues and voter concerns in each assembly segment.
While the ‘rath yatra’ and Brigade rally are still in the planning stage and await official confirmation, it is evident that the BJP is preparing a big launchpad for its poll campaign.
