Berhampur: A 25-year-old undertrial, who is lodged in Berhampur Circle Jail in Ganjam district in an alleged rape case, got married to the survivor, also 25, on the prison premises on Sunday. The marriage was solemnised in the presence of relatives of the bride and groom, several dignitaries and officers of the circle jail.The man and woman, both pharmacists, were in love. But due to certain misunderstandings, the woman lodged a complaint against the man and he was jailed in Nov last year.“After getting permission from the court and Director General (Prisons) and following all legal aspects, we have coordinated their marriage function inside the jail premises,” said DN Barik, senior superintendent, circle jail, Berhampur.“We hope he will soon be released from jail and they can lead a happy married life,” said one of the relatives of the groom.
