Schools said the rush highlights growing awareness among students to plan their academic paths early

Ranchi: Even as CBSE Class 10 board examinations concluded on March 11, schools across Ranchi have begun entrance tests and admission processes for Class 11, reflecting heightened competition and early academic planning among students.

Several leading institutions have already rolled out stream selection tests for science, commerce and humanities, with a large number of students appearing to secure seats in their preferred streams.

Schools said the rush highlights growing awareness among students to plan their academic paths early.

Jaya Chauhan, principal of Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi, said the school is conducting entrance assessments in a phased manner.

At JVM Shyamali, entrance tests have also been conducted, with authorities focusing on evaluating students’ aptitude for different streams before finalising admissions.

However, not all schools are following the entrance route this year. Surendranath Centenary School has opted for a merit-based approach based on pre-board examination performance. Principal Samita Sinha said, “We have completed the first round of admissions on merit. This year, we are taking a slightly different approach to ease pressure on students.” Overall, schools said the early start to admissions is helping both institutions and students plan better for the upcoming academic session.
