Bharati Mukhi, a 26-year-old mall employee, died after being hit by a car.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh’s son Lingamaneni Sanjush was named as an accused by Madhapur police for an alleged rash and negligent act leading to the death of a 26-year-old Inorbit Mall employee in a road accident on August 16. Lingamaneni Ramesh is an MP from Janasena party.Bharati Mukhi, who worked as a salesgirl at the Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall, was killed after being hit by car TG-09-G-0666 while crossing the road opposite the mall around 3pm, according to the FIR. Police registered a case against Sanjush under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Employee hit while returning with foodAccording to the complaint lodged by Lifestyle store manager Panjala Ashwin Kumar, Bharati and her colleague Pooja Ashok Alone, also 26, had gone near ITC Kohenur to collect food. They were returning to the mall when the accident occurred.The FIR alleges that Sanjush drove the car at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner and hit Bharati while she was crossing the road. She suffered a severe bleeding injury to her head.FIR claimed Bharati was shifted in the same car to Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, where doctors examined her and declared her dead. Pooja informed the store manager about the accident, following which he reached the hospital and later lodged a complaint.The car involved in the accident is registered in the name of Honor Prime Housing LLP.Police serve notice, say offence bailableMadhapur ACP Ch Sridhar said no arrest had been made as the offence was bailable and carries punishment below seven years.“As the road accident negligence case punishment is below seven years, it is bailable. There is no arrest in the case. We have served notices to the accused. There is no lacuna in police reporting in the case,” Sridhar said.Section 106(1) of the BNS deals with causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide and provides for imprisonment of up to five years and a fine.Cyberabad police commissioner Masthipuram Ramesh Reddy was not available for comment when contacted.Sanjush, 21, is associated as a director with Black Ridge Energy Private Limited and Capital Energy Private Limited, entities operating in the energy and power sectors. He studied BS Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. An email sent to Sanjush and Lingamaneni Ramesh remained unanswered.Madhapur police said further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident was under way.
