Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas has directed officials to accelerate efforts to make the state tuberculosis (TB)-free, with a focus on intensifying screening, testing and treatment, particularly in poorly performing districts, an official statement said on Thursday.
Srinivas issued the directions while reviewing the progress of the ‘TB Mukt Bharat‘ campaign at the state secretariat. He stressed the need for regular monitoring of progress at the district level and effective action plans to improve results.
The chief secretary also stressed maximum utilisation of X-ray machines for timely detection of TB and directed officials to scale up Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT).
He asked officials to study the working methods of better-performing districts and prepare effective action plans to improve results in other districts.
Srinivas emphasised strengthening public participation in the TB elimination campaign and directed officials to prepare a clear roadmap and work in a time-bound manner to achieve the target of a TB-free Rajasthan.
Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore apprised the meeting of the progress made under the campaign.
She said the number of gram panchayats declared TB-free in the state has increased significantly, from 29 in 2022 to 586 in 2023, 3,350 in 2024 and 6,547 in 2025.
Over 2.38 crore people have been screened for TB in the state under the campaign, while 2,04,888 nutrition kits have been distributed to TB patients, she said.
