Jaipur: State Election Commission (SEC) Friday directed Rajasthan govt to implement all transfer and posting orders issued before the announcement of elections to 309 urban local bodies by Aug 24. In addition, it allowed postings of recruits whose appointment orders had been issued before the poll schedule was announced.SEC further said that candidates selected in various govt recruitments for which appointment orders had already been issued before the announcement of the elections can be given postings against vacant posts. The commission directed state govt and departments concerned to ensure compliance with the order and take necessary action accordingly.SEC’s direction comes amid the enforcement of MCC for the urban local body elections, under which state govt and local authorities are required to ensure that administrative decisions do not influence the electoral process.The SEC Friday held a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties to discuss preparations for the urban local body General Elections-2026. State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh briefed parties on the election schedule, voter lists, nominations, voting arrangements, MCC and expenditure limits. Singh sought their cooperation in ensuring free, fair and peaceful polls and stressed strict compliance with election rules and the MCC.
