Jaipur: Rajasthan attracted nearly 11 crore tourists in the first six months of 2026, registering a growth of 23% over the previous year. Of the 10.92 crore tourists recorded between Jan and June, domestic tourists accounted for 10.83 visits, while 8.44 lakh were overseas travellers.Sikar topped the state in domestic tourism with 1.56 crore visits, followed by Chittorgarh (1.33 crore), Jaisalmer (1.18 crore), Ajmer (99.28 lakh), Jaipur (81.49 lakh), Karauli (64.01 lakh), Sawai Madhopur (61.88 lakh), Sirohi (61.14 lakh), Udaipur (47.61 lakh) and Churu (34.09 lakh).“The growth of domestic tourists reflects the popularity of Rajasthan’s diverse tourism experiences across different regions, led by religious tourism,” said Ajay Sharma, joint director, department of tourism.For foreign tourists, Jaipur remained the top destination with 2.56 lakh visits, followed by Udaipur (1.84 lakh), Jodhpur (82,846) and Jaisalmer (66,433). Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Dausa, Pali, Jhunjhunu and Bikaner also featured among the top destinations.The inclusion of Dausa and Jhunjhunu in the top 10 foreign tourist destinations points to a wider spread of tourism activity beyond the traditional circuits.The Kota-Hadaoti region, comprising Kota, Bundi, Baran and Jhalawar, recorded more than 24 lakh tourist visits during the period. Feb was the busiest month with 5.14 lakh visits, followed by Jan with 4.23 lakh and March with 4.12 lakh.Marwar also continued to attract both domestic and international tourists. Jodhpur and Pali together recorded more than 1.11 lakh foreign visits, while Jodhpur, Pali, Barmer, Jalore, Nagaur and Balotra saw substantial domestic movement.
