VMC Begins Sanitation Drive In CityVadodara: Rain took a brief pause in parts of the city on Friday, offering temporary relief to citizens. However, waterlogging continued to affect several localities, particularly in the southern and western parts of the city.Residents staged angry protests over waterlogging, alleging that poor drainage had left roads inundated in Chhani and Nizampura areas. They demanded immediate measures to prevent flooding, especially with heavy rain forecast over the coming days.Civic authorities on Friday evacuated 24 people from waterlogged areas in Bhayli to ensure their safety. Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu instructed the civic officials to solve the waterlogging problems and assured people that prompt action will be taken to tackle the issue.Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) also launched a cleaning and sanitation drive across affected localities. Several teams were deployed to clear blocked drains, remove accumulated waste and carry out disinfection measures to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases. VMC’s robotic cleaning machine and tractor teams were deployed in different areas to ensure uninterrupted movement for commuters.Officials have urged residents living in low-lying areas to remain cautious and cooperate with emergency teams in case of further flooding.Meanwhile, rain lashed Panchmahal and Mahisagar districts on Friday. In Mahisagar, traffic on the Kothamba-Ladvel Road was temporarily suspended after rainwater inundated the roadway.Over 43,000 cusecs were released from Karjan dam following which water level in Narmada River swelled. People have been advised to stay at a safe distance from the riverbank.
