Gurgaon: The city is likely to receive light to moderate rain at a few places over the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department’s latest forecast. The weather office has warned of heavy rain at isolated places in Haryana on Saturday. The heavy-rain warning, however, does not specifically cover the city.The district-wise forecast issued by IMD puts Gurgaon in the “few places” category for light to moderate rainfall on Aug 22. No heavy-rain or thunderstorm warning has been issued for the district on either day.For Aug 23, the city is again expected to receive light to moderate rain at a few places, with no weather warning in force. The forecast indicates that rainfall activity will ease thereafter, with isolated rain likely in parts of the state.The rainfall activity is being supported by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Haryana, while the monsoon trough extends across northern parts of the country.The minimum temperature at Gurgaon AWS was 25.9°C on Friday, with no 24-hour change reported. Northcap University AWS recorded a minimum of 28.3°C, which was 2.8°C higher than the previous day. Gurgaon AWS recorded no rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8:30 am Friday. The city’s maximum temperature was 34.4°C on Friday.The heavy-rain warning for the state applies to isolated locations on Aug 21 and 22. For Aug 21, IMD specifically warned of heavy rain and thunderstorm/lightning at isolated places in Yamunanagar, while Gurgaon was only forecast to receive light to moderate rain at a few places.For Aug 22, the heavy-rain and thunderstorm/lightning warning covers isolated places in Yamunanagar, Karnal and Panipat. Gurgaon again remains in the light-to-moderate rain category.
