NEW DELHI: Delhi experienced a sudden change in weather, with rain lashing parts of the national capital on Sunday, bringing much-needed relief from the prevailing heat conditions.Visuals from near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport showed rain lashing several areas around the airpor.The showers led to a noticeable drop in temperature, offering respite to residents who had been enduring hot and humid conditions over the past few days.Earlier on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that the maximum temperature is likely to remain around 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday and may rise to 42 degrees Celsius by Tuesday.“Another spell of very light to light rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph, is expected on June 11 and 12. It may bring down the maximum temperature to around 35–37 degrees Celsius on June 12,” the IMD said.The maximum temperature on Saturday rose to 40 degrees Celsius, which is near normal for this time of year.It was 35.8 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The heat index, or “feels-like” temperature, also touched 44.8 degrees Celsius at 2:30 pm on Saturday.
