Navi Mumbai: Four FIRs have been registered at four police stations in Raigad against four persons, including a minor, for publishing and transmitting material depicting children in sexually explicit acts on social media using their Instagram IDs.The police have invoked a BNS section along with the Pocso Act and the Information Technology Act against the accused persons. The FIRs were registered at Murud, Dadar Coastal, Khalapur and Khopoli police stations on Friday. Sachin Hire, senior inspector of Khopoli, said, “An FIR was registered after the Alibaug cyber police received complaint from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre I4C through the NCCRP portal, and the information also contained mobile number of the accused. The accused had posted a video clip of child sexual abuse on April 18, 2026, around 4.50 am. The accused resides in Sajgaon, Khalapur taluka. Subsequently, the police team reached his residence, but his kin told that he resides in Pune. Hence, we have served a notice under BNSS as the offence attracts a punishment of less than seven years”. At Khalapur police station, an FIR was registered for posting and circulating a child pornography video clip on social media on Dec 8, 2025, around 5.40 pm. The accused is a resident of Millak Nagar, Alwat Residency, Khalapur taluka. At Murud police station, an FIR was registered against a minor boy, a resident of Bhawani Pakhadi, Nandgaon, Murud taluka, for posting a child pornography video clip on Nov 3, 2024, at around 10.23 pm. At Dadar Coastal police station, an FIR was registered against a man residing in Sitamai village, Pen taluka, for posting and circulating a child sex abuse video clip on social media on Dec 18, 2024.
