NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking his wife with a shaving blade during a domestic dispute in northeast Delhi’s Sunder Nagri area, police said.The accused, identified as Majid Hussain, was arrested in connection with an attempt to murder case registered at Nand Nagri police station. The shaving blade allegedly used in the attack was also recovered, police said.Police said they received information around 11.41pm on September 13 about a woman being stabbed on her neck by her husband and immediately reached Gali No. 3 in Sunder Nagri. The injured woman had already been shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital by a PCR team.The woman, identified as Sajiya, wife of Hussain, told police that her husband was allegedly having an affair with another woman and frequently quarrelled with and assaulted her.According to her statement, around 15 days before the incident, she had gone to her parental home in Ram Park, Loni, along with her three children. She returned home two days before the incident after her husband and father-in-law persuaded her to come back.Police said that on September 13 around 11pm, Hussain allegedly quarrelled with his wife and attacked her with a shaving blade, causing multiple injuries to her mouth and throat.An FIR was registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Nand Nagri police station on September 14.The forensic team inspected the scene and collected evidence. A police team led by SHO Inspector Anand Yadav, under the supervision of ACP Nand Nagri Gaurav Kumar Tripathi, later apprehended Hussain.During interrogation, Hussain allegedly admitted to his involvement in the crime. The shaving blade used in the attack was recovered at his instance, police said.Police said Hussain has no previous criminal involvement and is not listed as a bad character.
