Kolkata: Qatar Airways has announced that it will resume flights between Doha and Kolkata from March 22.The airline, along with other carriers from the region, suspended flights on Feb 28 following the US and Israel’s strikes on Iran and the latter launching a counter-offensive. Airlines based in the United Arab Emirates — Emirates, Etihad, FlyDubai and Air Arabia — resumed flights from their hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Kolkata.Qatar Airways, which resumed flights from its hub in Doha on March 18, opened booking flights in the Kolkata-Doha sector from March 22.Many Kolkatans who were stuck in Dubai and Abu Dhabi returned after the UAE-based airlines resumed operations. With Qatar restarting fights, Kolkatans who were held up in Doha and other cities in Qatar will be able to return.While loads on incoming flights are expected to be good, travel agents said there might be only a few passengers on the return flights other than those who already booked to travel.
