Ranchi: Acting on health minister Irfan Ansari’s directions following an alleged physical altercation between a private hospital in Ranchi and a patient’s family over a medical bill two days ago, district health wing on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to Tulip Hospital and temporarily stopped new OPD and IPD admissions and surgeries.Ranchi civil surgeon Amarendra Prasad said, “We have issued a show-cause notice to the hospital before suspension of licence or any further legal action.”Hospital director Dr Jitendra Kumar said the patient was brought to the hospital after an accident and was admitted on Sep 8. The total bill was around Rs 1.70 lakh, of which Rs 1 lakh had been paid.” Kumar added that the hospital had received only one show-cause notice so far and was yet to receive any suspension order. “Our OPD and IPD services have been stopped and new surgeries have also been barred,” he added. The civil surgeon’s order also directs the hospital to continue treatment of patients already admitted and preserve case sheets, registers, CCTV footage and other records related to the September 10 incident.
