An 82-year-old man, Purnachandra Dolui, died after he was allegedly pushed by a CAPF jawan at a booth in Udaynarayanpur in Howrah on Wednesday. The jawan was detained, voting was suspended and later, an FIR was registered. Udaynarayanpur TMC candidate Samir Panja alleged, “The man had poor eyesight and his glasses had broken. His family told the polling staff about it. He could not see EVM images properly. The jawan pushed him, leading to his fall. He fell unconscious and was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.” tnn
