Mohali: Two cadets of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) — Arpit Parashar (9th course) and Vishesh Sood (10th course) — have been commissioned as officers in the Indian Navy at the Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala.The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.Parashar hails from Dhuri in Sangrur district, while Sood is from Mohali. Both underwent two years of training at MRSAFPI, followed by three years at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and one year of service-specific training at INA. They are set to take up operational duties shortly.Punjab employment generation, skill development and training minister Aman Arora congratulated the officers, saying their induction had brought pride to the state and reflected the government’s push to support youth aspiring for careers in the armed forces.With their commissioning, the number of MRSAFPI cadets inducted into the Indian Navy has reached 24.Institute director Major General Ajay H Chauhan (Retd) said 24 more cadets have cleared their Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews and are awaiting joining letters for courses beginning in June 2026. He wished the newly commissioned officers success in their service.
