Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has convened a session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from October 22 to 27. Besides legislative business, including the proposed Ranjitgarh Development Authority (RDA) Bill recently approved by the Cabinet, it will be closely watched whether the state government brings any amendments to the recently approved anti-sacrilege law.Meanwhile, opposition parties are expected to corner the AAP government over the recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searches in the state following the Punjab and Haryana high court’s direction to the agency to register an FIR against the chief minister’s OSD Rajbir Ghuman and others.The session will begin on October 22 with obituary references, followed by non-official business on the same day. Official business will be taken up on October 23, while legislative business is scheduled for October 27. October 26 is a gazetted holiday.During the previous Vidhan Sabha session in August, the House passed nine bills in a single day. The legislative agenda included measures related to taxation, regularisation of employees and approval for private open universities.
