Pune: The Airport police on Friday arrested a 24-year-old Viman Nagar resident for allegedly issuing threats to his neighbour, and extorting money from him over the past year.The victim, a 29-year-old man who runs a small business, lodged a police complaint stating that the accused threatened to harm his family members if he did not pay the demanded money.A team comprising senior inspector Govind Jadhav, inspector Mahesh Bolke, and sub-inspectors Nitin Rathod and Harshal Ghagare of the Airport police arrested Sohail Salim Kunool, the accused in the case. Police had laid down a trap for Kunool in the Viman Nagar area.Rathod said, “Over the past year, Kunool repeatedly demanded small amounts ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs10,000 from the businessman by threatening him with dire consequences on several occasions. He would call the complainant and threaten to harm his family members if the money was not paid.”Rathod added that the situation kept worsening, and eventually, the businessman decided to approach the police and lodged a complaint.
