Bengaluru: The city achieved 96.4% coverage on day 1 of the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme Sunday, with 11,06,535 children aged under five receiving polio drops across the five city corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).The target set for the four-day drive, scheduled from June 28 to July 1, is 11,47,872. The corporation-wise coverage stood at: Central – 1,59,106; East – 1,73,781; West – 2,81,369; North – 2,78,880; and South – 2,13,399.Notably, GBA achieved this coverage on the opening day without conducting house-to-house visits.Of the total children immunised, 10,27,347 received polio drops at booths set up across the wards, including urban primary health centres, Namma Clinics, maternity hospitals, urban family welfare centres, dispensaries, anganwadi centres, and schools. Another 73,987 children were vaccinated at transit points and other locations such as mela sites and bazaars.
