Ludhiana: A family’s protest outside a local police station over alleged administrative inaction has ended in a quiet compromise after the body of a 32-year-old mother was found hanging in her rented home at Azad Nagar on March 19 under “mysterious circumstances” .The deceased, identified as Amandeep Kaur, lived alone in the Shimlapuri area while her husband and children resided separately. Her death initially sparked a standoff on Friday as relatives gathered outside the Daba police station, accusing investigators of ignoring evidence of foul play involving a male acquaintance of the victim.Amandeep Kaur’s brother, Mandeep Singh, told reporters that the family suspected the male friend, who frequently visited her, was involved in her death. He claimed the family was forced to stage the protest and raise slogans against the police after their initial requests for a formal probe into the man’s role were dismissed. The family’s grievances centered on the victim’s complex personal circumstances. Mandeep Singh has claimed that Amandeep Kaur’s husband suffers from mental health issues and lives apart, while their children are currently in the care of their grandparents.Sub-inspector Pramod Bhatti, the station house officer (SHO) at Daba, confirmed that the unrest had concluded Saturday evening after the family and the suspect had reached a private compromise. Consequently, police have moved forward with proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which pertains to the investigation of unnatural deaths.
