Kanpur: The micro, small and medium enterprises are the backbone of the state’s economic development, said the state micro, small and medium enterprises minister Bhupendra Chaudhary in Kanpur on Friday.He conducted a detailed assessment of employment-oriented and enterprise promotion schemes, including Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, ODOP Margin Money Yojana, Pradhanmantri Rojgar Srijan Karyakram, Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, and ODOP Training and Toolkit Yojana. Progress of Flatted Factory Complex, Common Facility Centre, ODOP Samanya Suvidha Kendra, and the PLEDGE scheme work was also reviewed.During a review meeting with the departmental officials at the Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion, in the city, the minister said that it should be ensured that the benefits of these schemes reaches the last person of the society. He directed the officials for wide publicity of the schemes so that maximum people, of rural as well as the urban areas, are connected with these schemes. New employment opportunities for youth should be created by promoting small industries, he added.Chaudhary also directed for swift resolution of banking-related problems in employment-oriented schemes and asked all the officials to pay special attention to achieve 100% targets of the schemes and maximising employment generation.During the meeting a detailed discussion was held on the achievements of the Uttar Pradesh MSME Promotion Policy-2022, targets for financial year 2026-27, and budgetary provisions. Information was also shared on the progress of the proposed ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Audyogik evam Employment Zone’ and the ‘One District One Cuisine’ scheme.Commissioner and director of Industries, K Vijayendra Pandian, gave a presentation on the departmental structure and progress of various schemes. Member of Legislative Council Santosh Singh was also present on the occasion.
