Ghaziabad: A probe has been launched after a video purportedly showing a policeman seeking Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 to process address verification for a passport surfaced on social media on Aug 14.The clip shows a policeman discussing documentation with a man at his home, during which he is heard asking for money as a commission. While the video was shared widely with claims that the officer was currently posted at Indirapuram police station, ACP Suryabali Maurya said the claims were incorrect.“The policeman in the video has been identified, but he is no longer deputed at this police station. The video appears to be old,” Maurya said.A detailed inquiry has been initiated to establish when and where the video was recorded, the circumstances in which it was made and whether the allegations were genuine.
