Priyanka Chopra has often gushed about her married life to Nick Jonas, but for the first time, the actress spilled the beans about her intimate Roka ceremony with Nick Jonas. The actress, who was on the Mythical Kitchen Podcast, opened up about the deeply personal and spiritual significance of her roka ceremony. Revealing all that went on behind closed doors in her Mumbai home, the actress reflected on the ritual that she said marked a turning point in her relationship with Nick.Priyanka Chopra on her Roka Ceremony with Nick JonasSpeaking about the pre-wedding ceremony, Chopra recalled, “At our Roka, even I didn’t know it was gonna be such a thing, but my mom, you know, daughter’s getting married, don’t have dad, really wanted to make it special.”Revealing how her mom, Madhu Chopra went all out for the ceremony, she said, “We had, four pundits, which are Indian priest,s sitting and chanting. I walked down, and my mom had changed the whole downstairs; all the couches were moved, and there was, like, low seating. There was a havan kund, in the middle, which is for a fire ceremony. And there were these pundits just chanting, and the whole feeling was as if I was walking into a new life.”Priyanka Chopra on the significance of the RokaIn her chat, Priyanka admitted that Nick placing the ring on her finger didn’t weigh as much as the emotional and spiritual significance of the moment. She admitted, “It didn’t hit me when Nick put the ring on my finger, but when we walked in hand in hand, I was like, ‘Oh! Things are shifting. This is different. I am choosing my family’. So the gravity of that was not lost on either of us.”Priyanka Chopra reveals what Nick Jonas said after the Roka ceremonyLetting fans in on the private conversation she had with Nick after the ceremony, she said, “After the ceremony was over, which Nick did perfectly, much to the joy of all my aunties, we went back upstairs to just change, take a minute, come down for lunch. He held my hand, and he said, ‘I feel like we are on our third or fourth lifetime’.”She explained, “Because in Indian weddings, when you walk around the fire seven times, you’re making a promise for your seven lifetimes. We believe in reincarnation, and we believe that you find your person again and again and again. And when he said that to me, I thought about it for a second, that we’re in our third or fourth, and I said, ‘Why do you say that?'”Recalling Nick’s reply, she revealed, “‘Because it’s so familiar. It feels like home. But at the same time, I want to experience so much of it together.’ I mean, how are you not gonna marry that man?” Priyanka and Nick wed in December 2018, after just a few months of dating. The couple are now parents to daughter Malti Marie.
