President Droupadi Murmu on Monday said education should go beyond the acquisition of knowledge and play a central role in character building, social transformation and nation-building while inaugurating Jagadguru Kripalu University (JKU) at its 100-acre campus in Banara, Cuttack.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the President said, “Education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge; it is the foundation for character building, social transformation, and the creation of a prosperous future for the nation.”
Expressing confidence in the institution’s vision, she said the university would contribute to society by integrating India’s cultural and spiritual traditions with modern education.
The event was attended by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and Swami Mukundananda, founder and chairman of the university, among other dignitaries.
Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, Jagadguru Kripalu University will begin operations with three constituent schools—the JK Institute of Technology, JK Institute of Management Studies and the JK Institute of Healthcare and Life Science.
The university plans to offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in disciplines including artificial intelligence, data science, AI and machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, fintech, healthcare, business management and commerce.
According to the university, its academic model will combine multidisciplinary education with industry-linked learning through apprenticeships, live projects and experiential learning, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
