Gurugram: Schools must move beyond examination-centric learning and focus on developing ethical values, critical thinking and responsible use of technology to prepare students for the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, said Dr Biswajit Saha, Director, Training & Skill Education, CBSE.
Addressing The Forum 2026, organised under the theme “Industry & Academia in Dialogue: Preparing Young India for the India We Are Building,” Saha said the country’s transformation into a developed nation would depend on the kind of learning experiences schools create today.
“The journey towards Viksit Bharat begins in our classrooms. When parents, teachers and schools come together to foster ethical learning, critical thinking and responsible use of technology, we prepare students not just for examinations, but for life. The future of our nation depends on the values and mindset we cultivate in every learner today,” Saha said.
The day-long forum brought together education leaders, industry representatives, policymakers and students to deliberate on how India’s education system should evolve to meet the aspirations of a developed nation by 2047. The event also marked the launch of WeThink Bharat, a platform aimed at fostering collaboration between education, industry and society on issues related to employability, innovation and nation-building.
Delivering the opening address, Dr Neha Raghav, Founder and Director of WeThink Bharat, said the initiative seeks to create a collaborative platform where educators, industry leaders, policymakers and young people can collectively shape the future of education and workforce readiness.
The inaugural session also featured keynote addresses by Dr S.P. Sharma, Chief Economist, ASSOCHAM, and Lt Gen Surendra Kulkarni (Retd. ), former Director of Mayo College, Ajmer.
The programme concluded with discussions led by students and young leaders, reinforcing the need to place youth voices at the centre of conversations on education, employability and innovation as India works towards its 2047 development goals.
