Nagpur: Preliminary findings indicate that the explosion at SBL Energy Limited was caused by negligence, said Nagpur district guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday, following a high-level review a day after the blast. The detailed investigation report is expected in a month.“The probe will examine all relevant norms and assess whether the company complied with them,” he told media.The company will remain closed pending further inquiry, but workers will continue to receive wages during the closure, the minister confirmed.Sources explained that detonators are highly sensitive and can explode if dropped or subjected to friction. However, a single detonator alone cannot cause such extensive damage. In a previous minor incident, a worker was injured by the accidental detonation of a single unit. Experts now suggest that a box may have fallen, triggering an initial blast that escalated into a larger explosion and fire.Considering the high-risk nature of such operations, specialists recommended replacing human labor with robotics and implementing remote monitoring systems to enhance safety.
