Koraput: The post office on Vikram Dev University campus at Jeypore is set for a Gen Z makeover, with the postal department planning to transform the existing facility into a modern, student-friendly postal hub.Senior superintendent of posts, Jeypore circle, Satyabadi Biswal, said that the facility would combine conventional postal services with digital and youth-oriented amenities, making postal and allied services more accessible to students. “The revamped facility is likely to have a contemporary look with student-friendly seating, Wi-Fi, charging points and digital service facilities,” Biswal said. However, the existing post office building is too small to accommodate the features planned under the Gen Z post office initiative. “We have requested the university authorities to provide around 400 sq ft of space so that it can be developed into a Gen Z post office,” he said. The postal department will begin the work once the university provides the additional space, Biswal said. The proposed makeover is expected to give students and staff access to a wider range of postal and allied services within the campus, while giving the decades-old concept of a post office a contemporary identity. Depending on the facilities approved for the campus, the upgraded facility may offer services like India Post Payments Bank, postal savings and insurance schemes, Aadhaar-related services and other digital postal services.
