Nagpur: A portion of plaster of Paris (PoP) ceiling caved in at the famous Jamsawali Hanuman Mandir in Pandhurna district, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday during ongoing repair and waterproofing work. The administration dismantled remaining section and undertook repairs afresh. No one was injured during the incident.One of the senior administrative officials of the temple told TOI that the incident occurred around 10am on Aug 11 in the central portion of the temple, which had already been closed to devotees due to ongoing work. “Waterproofing and other repair work was underway when a small portion of the PoP came down. As a precautionary measure, we are reconstructing the entire affected portion,” the official said.The temple committee subsequently restricted access to the affected area and began removing the damaged PoP ceiling while inspecting adjoining portions as a precaution.The Jamsawali Hanuman Mandir is one of the region’s most prominent religious destinations, drawing lakhs of devotees every year, particularly from Nagpur, Vidarbha and neighbouring areas in Madhya Pradesh.
