Prayagraj: Allahabad High Court on Tuesday stayed the criminal proceedings against Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan in connection with an alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.The order was passed by Justice Vikram D. Chauhan while hearing matters related to MPs and MLAs.Iqra Hasan, the MP from Kairana parliamentary constituency, moved High Court challenging an FIR and criminal proceedings initiated against her. In her petition, Hasan contended that the FIR and the criminal case were initiated due to “political rivalry”.According to the case records, the FIR was lodged at Kandhla police station in Shamli district during the 2024 general elections. Following an investigation, the investigating officer filed a charge sheet, on the basis of which the MP-MLA court in Shamli commenced criminal proceedings.After hearing the matter, High Court stayed the proceedings before the Shamli court and granted time to state govt counsel to file a counter-affidavit.
