Navi Mumbai: Raigad police have seized a consignment of contraband liquor worth around Rs 73 lakh being transported illegally from Goa to Gujarat via Maharashtra, after intercepting a tanker truck near Neral along the Karjat-Murbad road on Saturday around 10.15 pm.Raigad SP Anchal Dalal formed a special team of Neral police station to apprehend the trucker after receiving a tip-off about illegal transportation of Goa-manufactured liquor. Rahul Varote, assistant police inspector of Neral police station, said, “The tanker truck driver, identified as Laduram Bishnoi (42), has been arrested. He is the owner of the vehicle, which has Gujarat RTO passing.” Varote said, “We have seized a total of 799 corrugated boxes containing Goa-manufactured whisky and vodka.”
