A woman was raped by several men outside a church after leaving a nightclub in Surrey, police said.

The woman in her 20s reported she was attacked after being followed leaving Labyrinth Epsom between 2am and 4am on Saturday.

The attack is believed to have occurred outside Epsom Methodist Church in Ashley Road, Epsom, which is about 100m from the club.

Police said it currently does not have full descriptions of the suspects but officers are conducting extensive inquiries to identify and locate them.

Anyone with information, eyewitnesses and motorists who may have dashcam video have been asked to contact police.

Det Ins Aine Matthews said: “We understand this is an extremely distressing incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.”

Matthews added: “Our investigation is in its early stages.

“We are working at pace to develop our picture of the suspects, and we will share details as soon as we are able to.

“As part of our investigation, we would like to speak to anyone who was in the area between 2am and 4am and may have seen or spoken to a woman in her 20s in distress.”

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time have been urged to contact Surrey police quoting reference number PR/45260041426.
