Nagpur: Busting an organized vehicle theft racket, the crime branch has arrested three key accused and recovered a stolen car along with a motorcycle used in the crime. The breakthrough, achieved through technical intelligence and cyber support, has dealt a strong blow to the interstate vehicle theft network operating in the city. The special operation received support from the Cyber Unit and Crime Branch, highlighting the increasing use of technology in tracking and dismantling organised vehicle theft modules. Police believe the gang was involved in multiple thefts across Nagpur and surrounding areas, targeting four-wheelers and two-wheelers for quick resale after dismantling. Acting on precise technical leads, the team nabbed Abdul Raab alias Mastan Niyaz Ansari, Raheel Kalam Sheikh, and Abid Ahmed alias Sameer Shafik Ahmed, all residents of Yashodhara Nagar. Two more accused — Faizan from Manjari and Jasin alias Bowa from Yashodhara Nagar — have been identified and declared wanted. During the raid, the squad comprising head constable Rakesh Tiwari and others under DCP crime Deepak Aggarwal seized the stolen car valued at 50,000 and a bike worth 1 lakh that was allegedly used to commit the thefts.
