Patna: Bihar Police’s ambitious ‘Police Didi’ campaign was launched on Wednesday in Patna’s Paliganj subdivision, with women police personnel visiting govt schools to spread awareness about women’s safety, cybercrime, human trafficking and self-defence among students.As part of the campaign, the Abhaya Brigade team from Paliganj police station interacted with girl students, particularly those from rural areas, and educated them on how to identify suspicious activities, avoid falling prey to traffickers or fraudsters, and seek timely police assistance. Students and their parents were advised to immediately dial the emergency helpline 112 in case of any emergency. Local administrative officials also participated in the awareness programme.The police team conducted interactive sessions on cyberfraud, social media-related crimes and personal safety. Students were also given demonstrations of basic self-defence techniques and encouraged to report any form of harassment or suspicious activity without fear.Paliganj police station in charge Santosh Kumar Singh said the campaign was launched by the Bihar Police and the state govt to strengthen the safety of girl students, especially in rural areas. He said awareness programmes were being organised in govt schools to educate students about human trafficking, cybercrime and other crimes while encouraging them to remain alert and seek police help whenever required.The ‘Police Didi’ campaign is a special initiative of the Bihar Police aimed at promoting women’s safety and empowerment. Under the programme, teams of women police officers regularly visit schools, colleges, coaching institutes, women’s hostels and other sensitive locations to create awareness about personal safety, legal rights, emergency response mechanisms and crime prevention, while also keeping a watch on anti-social elements targeting women and girls.
