Udaipur: A court here Wednesday extended the police custody of SOG ASP Mukesh Kumar Soni and alleged middleman Sajjan Singh Jain by three days in a Rs 2-crore bribery case linked to Udaipur’s 272-plot scam.Both accused were produced in the court after their earlier three-day remand ended. ACB sought further custody, saying several important facts were yet to emerge and others could be involved.ACB alleged Soni was not cooperating with investigators. It said collecting CCTV footage and inspecting the incident site remained pending. Counsel for the accused opposed further police custody.Jain was arrested allegedly while accepting Rs 2 crore on Sept 26, while Soni was arrested the following day. The bribe was allegedly sought in exchange for filing an FR in a case registered by SOG over the plot scam.SOG reader Jaswant Rao is also on ACB’s radar. Rao has been absent from office since Sept 26 and his phone is switched off. ACB is searching for him with help from Udaipur Police and conducting raids at his house and other possible hideouts.Rao was described as Soni’s closest aide and handled paperwork and related tasks in major cases, including the 272-plot scam. ACB believes his questioning could lead to important revelations.
