Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Sunday claimed it successfully conducted the civil police constable recruitment examination across the state. However, the otherwise incident-free examination witnessed controversy at one centre in Vijayapura district, prompting KEA to seek a detailed report.According to KEA executive director H Prasanna, the recruitment examination was conducted at 884 centres across Karnataka, including 149 in Bengaluru. Candidates from residual parent cadre (RPC) appeared for the morning session, while those from the Kalyana Karnataka Cadre (KKC) wrote the examination in the evening.Of the 3.8 lakh candidates who had applied under the RPC, 92.5% appeared for the examination. Similarly, 94% of the 76,676 candidates from KKC took part in the process.Prasanna said KEA had deployed extensive technological safeguards to ensure a fair and malpractice-free recruitment process.Tikota exam centre under scannerKEA has sought a report from Vijayapura deputy commissioner over an incident at Sharadamba PU College examination centre in Tikota, where a group of candidates created confusion regarding the serial numbers printed on the OMR answer sheets and question papers.Prasanna said KEA rules do not require the serial numbers on the OMR answer sheets and question papers to match. A few candidates left the examination centre within 30 minutes, taking both the OMR answer sheets and question papers with them. They climbed over the compound wall to leave the premises, an act that KEA said amounts to an offence under the law.He said candidates should have raised any concerns with the principal or senior officials present at the examination centre. If there had been a delay in distributing question papers, they could have requested additional time. He questioned the motive behind leaving the examination hall with official examination materials.Despite the disruption, 120 candidates at the Tikota centre completed the examination.
