Udupi: A major initiative to refurbish and upgrade police barricades across Udupi district has been launched with the support of a private party.SP Hariram Shankar said that as part of the first phase of the project, eight police barricades in the jurisdiction of the Udupi Town police station, which required repairs, have been completely refurbished and upgraded with uniform design and prescribed quality standards. Kalkura Refrigeration have extedned support to the project.The upgraded barricades were formally handed over to the SP on Monday. At present, the district has 59 single police barricades and 61 double police barricades, making a total of 120 barricades. Under the project, all repaired barricades will be upgraded into double police barricades.Over the next two months, the private party will undertake the refurbishment and upgradation of these barricades in phases, ensuring uniform design, quality and usability standards, before handing them back to the respective police stations.
