Prayagraj: Police on Tuesday arrested two more persons for their alleged role in luring a 15-year-old girl and illegally extracting her ova using forged documents at a local IVF centre.Police said those arrested– Ravi Bhartiya (24) and Sangeeta Devi (45) of Phaphamau—had allegedly helped in preparing forged documents of the teenager. Phaphamau police had earlier arrested five accused, including four women, in connection with the case registered under BNS sections 140(4), 137(2), 143(4), and 351(2), and 3/5(1) of Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Police said a Phaphamau resident Anita Gautam recently lodged an FIR with Phaphamau police and accused Palak Hela and her mother, Rinki Hela of Kareli, of kidnapping her teenaged daughter, luring her, and getting her ova extraction done illegally at a city-based IVF centre. Police said Palak and her mother had allegedly lured the minor into becoming an egg donor in exchange for a huge amount of money and a costly cellphone. The girl consented and was taken to one Seema, who helped in preparing the forged documents, including a fake Aadhaar card, showing her as an adult, married woman. Seema then took the girl to a registered agent of the IVF centre, where a fake consent affidavit was prepared. The girl’s statement was recorded before Child Welfare Committee on Feb 3. She claimed Palak took her to the IVF centre, where the extraction was performed on Jan 20. The racketeers were experts in brainwashing targets and even took them to religious sites to win their trust.
