T’puram: People leaving their homes locked while travelling can now avail themselves of a special police surveillance service through Kerala Police’s official mobile application, Pol-App. So far, 31,188 people across the state have registered for the service.Under the ‘Locked House’ facility, residents can inform the police through the app that their house will remain unoccupied during their absence. The police will keep an eye on the house and its surroundings during the specified period.To avail the service, users have to download Pol-App and apply under the ‘Locked House Information’ section. The information should normally be submitted at least 48 hours before the journey. Users are required to provide details including the dates of travel, a photograph of the house, its location and address, and the name and phone number of a relative or neighbour.The police can be informed up to seven days in advance. Surveillance can be arranged for a maximum period of 14 days. Those requiring the service for more than 14 days will have to submit a fresh application.The Kerala Police has urged the public to download the app on their mobile phones and make use of its various services.
