Project Management Institute (PMI) has partnered with Amity University Online to provide students with access to industry-recognised project management training and certification pathways, as demand grows for professionals equipped to lead technology-driven projects.
Under the partnership, students will get access to PMI Group Student Membership and pathways to globally recognised certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI (PMI-CPMAI).
The collaboration comes as India is expected to require up to 8.5 million additional project professionals by 2035, according to PMI, amid expansion across infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, global capability centres, digital public infrastructure and AI-enabled enterprise transformation.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and skills increasingly demanded by employers by combining project management capabilities with specialised training in applying AI to project environments.
“Preparing learners for the future of work demands a seamless convergence of academic excellence, industry relevance, and globally recognised professional standards,” said Ajit Chauhan, chairman, Amity University Online.
The partnership was highlighted at a PMI roundtable on “Leading Through Change: Building AI-Ready Talent for the Future of Work”, which brought together leaders from academia and the project management community to discuss India’s talent requirements in an AI-driven economy.
Amit Goyal, managing director, South Asia, PMI, said AI alone would not drive meaningful transformation and that professionals would need to combine technological understanding with strategic thinking, judgement and leadership.
The partnership reflects the growing role of industry-led certification and professional training within higher education as institutions seek to align academic programmes with evolving workplace requirements.
