Pune: The PMC’s standing committee on Friday gave its nod to work out an option of cash compensation to get hold of land parcelsfor the Shivane-Kharadiroad ahead of the DP road in the Karvenagar area.The road department had tabled the proposal before the standing committee. The department will work out the cash required to compensate thelandowners.A source in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) said Shivane-Kharadiroad was a long pending project. It has not been completed because of land hurdles. The PMC is now eyeing to get hold of over 1,000sqm of land for the road by compensating owners in cash.Many roads in the city are incomplete because of the dearth of land. The PMC has decided to fast-track these projects by providingcompensation to landowners in cash or by allottingTDR.The civic body is planning to go for cash compensation to get land parcels for the missing road links. There is a plan to push ahead at least 12 missing links this year.(INSET)No decision on tax waiver proposalThe proposal to waive off property tax of smaller properties (less than 500sqft) in PMC limits remained undecided in the standing committee meeting on Friday. A source said the civic administration was not in favour of going for the waiver. There are around 4.43 lakh properties with less than 500sqft area registered with the PMC. The civic body’s annual tax generation from these properties is around Rs268 crore.
