Bhubaneswar: Seven redeveloped railway stations in Odisha will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video-conferencing from Jalandhar in Punjab on Friday. The seven stations – Balangir, Baripada, Barpali, Bimalagarh, Kesinga, Paralakhemundi and Talcher – are among the 75 stations redeveloped across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).Officials said the redeveloped stations have been designed to offer seamless passenger movement, better accessibility and improved travel comfort while showcasing local art, culture and architectural traditions. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, support tourism, trade and local businesses, and improve access to educational and economic opportunities across western, southern and industrial regions of Odisha.A total of 59 railway stations in Odisha have been selected under ABSS, reflecting Railways push to create modern, inclusive and future-ready transport hubs across the state. The scheme focuses on long-term station development, improved passenger interfaces, enhanced multimodal connectivity, better signage, upgraded amenities and designs that combine functionality with local identity.
