Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday directed officials to ensure that people staying in flood relief camps in his parliamentary constituency face no inconvenience and receive all basic facilities on time.PM Modi spoke to mayor Ashok Tiwari and DM Satyendra Kumar on the phone to review the flood situation in Varanasi and the relief measures being undertaken. During the conversation, PM Modi took detailed stock of waterlogging in different parts of the city and the situation arising from the rising water level of the Ganga.After seeking details regarding the functioning of relief camps set up in flood-affected areas, the availability of food, drinking water, medicines and other essential facilities for people staying in the camps, he directed that relief work be carried out on a war footing and that additional relief material be provided wherever required. He also stressed the need for special attention to the requirements of children, women and elderly people staying in relief camps.He urged public representatives and municipal councillors to work in coordination on the ground and remain actively engaged with the people to ensure timely help reaches those affected by the natural disaster.Following their interaction, Tiwari said that under the guidance of PM Modi, further arrangements were being made to ensure that even those stranded in flood-hit areas and not ready to leave their places did not face any problem.
