Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a mega Brigade rally on Saturday, marking the end of ‘Poribartan Yatra’ and kicking off BJP’s poll campaign, ahead of the assembly polls in West Bengal. In addition to the culmination of Yatra, Modi will inaugurate a series of developmental projects worth around Rs 18,680 crore in Kolkata, from a separate stage.

The Prime Minister will address a massive rally from a stage, designed and modelled on the iconic Dakshineswar Kali Temple at Brigade Parade Ground. The stage is designed to highlight Bengal’s rich cultural identity, tradition and heritage of Bengal and its various districts with emphasis on Bengali Asmita and identity.

BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya, “This fight is against Ma Mati Manush and BJP. Trinamool Congress is already distanced from the grassroot people. Those who thought BJP will be intimidated- it is not true. This is the land of Syma Prasad Mukherjee. This land has rich multiculturalism and diversity.” People from various parts of the state, including BJP workers, have reached Kolkata to attend the Brigade rally.

This is the Prime Minister’s first visit to Bengal, after publication of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bengal.

The stage is around 10 feet high and 80 feet wide and features Dakshineswar Kali Temple, one of the most revered religious landmarks in West Bengal.

The stage is adorned with state’s diverse cultural traditions-from Bishnupur’s famous terracotta temple art, Darjeeling’s tea industry, Purulia’s Chhau Dance, traditional patachitra paintings and other forms of Bengali folk craftsmanship and elephants representing Alipurduar and architectural motifs from the temples of Bishnupur.Ahead of assembly elections in Bengal, BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ in West Bengal will be kicked off on March 1 from Coochbehar in North Bengal and continue till March 10. On March 1, the Yatra was kicked off in the presence of Party National President Nitin Nabin and Samik Bhattacharya in Coochbehar.
