Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked its former judge JN Patel to submit his report within four weeks on the inquiry conducted into the affairs of the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB).The court noted that it found it necessary to place the report prepared under Section 88 of the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960, on record.A division bench comprising Justices Anil Kilor and Rajnish Vyas passed the direction while disposing of a civil application filed in PIL No. 25/2014 filed by Om Prakash Kamdi, for expediting the trials in the NDCCB scam, pending since 2002.The direction followed an application by the State Cooperation Department seeking appropriate directions for the report to be placed before the court. The inquiry has examined the functioning and affairs of NDCCB, which was then headed by former Congress minister and former Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar.The Section 88 inquiry was ordered in the backdrop of the controversy over alleged financial irregularities involving the bank’s funds. Justice Patel, a former high court judge, had commenced hearings of the inquiry in October 2024, with Kedar and other persons connected with the case appearing through their lawyers. A sessions court had convicted Kedar and five others in December 2023 in the alleged scam.
