Patna: Jan Suraaj founder and Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor on Tuesday met families of those killed in the Lakhisarai temple stampede and the injured, alleging the administration had “failed” to demonstrate the seriousness required to handle the tragedy. Seven women devotees died and 25 people were injured near Ashok Dham temple on Monday.“After speaking to people about the tragic incident that happened yesterday, prima facie it appears that the administration did not show the seriousness that it should have shown in handling the entire episode and arrangements,” he said.Kishor also alleged that accidents in Bihar were often dealt with by paying compensation and closing the matter. “Seven people have lost their lives. Not even a constable has been suspended,” he said.Later, Kishor met DGP Vinay Kumar and discussed traffic management, alleged police extortion from vendors and hawkers, and growing drug abuse in Patna and Bankipur. He said a multi-departmental meeting would formulate a two-to-three-year plan for traffic management using technology and experts. On drug abuse, he said, “It has been decided that since dry drug use is increasing here, a plan will be prepared to work with street children.”
