Ghaziabad: Days after a 22-year-old man died outside a pink booth, an inquiry has been set up against two police personnel.DCP Dhawal Jaiswal said that the probe has been set up against the cops, who were inside the pink booth and didn’t open the gate. The inquiry is being conducted by ACP (women crime) Suchita Singh. “We have collected all the videos made by the public and the CCTV footage of the pink booth for the investigation,” the trans-Hindon & city zone DCP said.ACP Singh said, “The investigation is underway and soon, I will submit my report to seniors.” The two cops’ statements have been recorded. One of the constables is in training, while the second one is a head constable, she said.Initial investigation suggested that if the man got treatment at the right time, there were chances that he would be alive. The autopsy report revealed that the man died due to “excessive bleeding”, a senior police officer said on Wednesday. The car mechanic died after his hand was cut by glass on the door of the pink booth located in Sector 23, Sanjay Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Madhuban Bapudham police station on Sunday afternoon.Rajkumar — from Siwan in Bihar who lived in Madhuban Bapudham — visited the pink booth for help after having a dispute with an auto-rickshaw driver. When the police officers did not open the gate, the victim punched the gate. Later, he collapsed on the road and blood kept flowing from his hand. By the time he reached the hospital, he died.ACP Singh said, “The two police officers said during questioning that the man came to the pink booth and was in a drunk condition. The women were frightened because he was extremely aggressive and shouting loudly. He started smashing things at the pink booth and kicking the gate. At that moment, one of them was trying to call her senior police officer, but the call went unanswered. Later, police officers arrived on a Leopard bike and took him away in an ambulance.”An FIR has been registered against the auto-rickshaw driver and unknown persons after Chinta Devi, mother of the victim, lodged a complaint. Devi said that on July 12, the auto-rickshaw carrying two passengers was coming from the old bus stand. Her son and the driver of the vehicle got into a dispute over fare. Because of this, two passengers sitting in the back were listening to the dispute.“As the quarrel between them escalated, they came to the Sanjay Nagar pink booth outpost. But my son did not get a response at the booth. In a state of agitation, my son hit the outpost door with his hand. Since the door was made of glass, the glass broke and his hand was injured. Blood started coming out from his hand at the outpost itself and he was not in a condition to defend himself and became unconscious. In this condition, after about an hour, the police took Rajkumar to hospital in Sanjay Nagar for treatment. During treatment, the doctors declared him dead,” Devi said.“Rajkumar’s wife Gudiya Devi is eight months pregnant. His father has also been in a coma for two years. The elder brother in the family is also disabled and his mental condition is also poor. Rajkumar was the only bread earner in the family and now we are all lost. This is not just about one man’s death. It is about an entire family being devastated. Who will now take responsibility for this household? I appeal to the govt to provide some financial support to this family and also ensure that the accused is punished,” she said.Kavi Nagar ACP Siddharth Gautam said that on the basis of the complaint, the FIR has been registered against Lucky, driver of auto-rickshaw, and unknown persons under sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 106 (1) (death due to negligence) of BNS at Madhuban Bapudham police station. The driver has been detained for questioning.
